Sandhill Cove Foundation

The Sandhill Cove Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt organization founded in 2015 and managed by a resident Board of Directors. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide scholarship assistance to Sandhill Cove employees and their children.

The Foundation is located on the Sandhill Cove campus, but operates as a totally separate organization, independent of LCS. Because it makes the possibility of continuing education a reality for the employees and their families, the Foundation underscores the fundamental feeling of togetherness that flows through our community.

As one recent scholarship recipient said, “The Foundation gave me more than just financial help, they gave me a family.” That’s because, unlike the situation with most charitable relationships, the resident donors interact every day with the beneficiaries of their gifts.

In turn, Sandhill Cove benefits from the Foundation scholarship program which helps attract and retain employees for the community.

Since the Foundation began in 2015 a total of 369 scholarships has been awarded with a total value of more than $1.4 million. The Sandhill Cove Foundation is proud of every one of these recipients whose lives have been “changed” for the better.

How We’re Making a Difference

In 2026, the Sandhill Cove Foundation awarded 39 scholarships totaling $167,500. The students are attending a variety of schools including the Universities of South and Central Florida, Howard University, Purdue and Indian River State College which has campuses in both Martin and St. Lucie counties.

Scholarships are available to qualified applicants who hold a high school diploma or GED and wish to pursue licensed technical or industrial training, or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Applications are reviewed by the Foundation Scholarship Committee and awards are granted based on financial need and merit. Candidates are required to submit transcripts, financial documentation, letters of recommendation, and references.
