Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a financial agreement that provides quality services right where you live and protects you from many of the rising costs of senior care. At a LifeCare® retirement community, sometimes also called a Life Plan Community or Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), your independent living entrance fee and all-inclusive monthly fee secure accommodation, a host of services and amenities, and access to a continuum of care.

A Life Plan community (sometimes called a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC) is a senior living option that offers a continuum of care on one campus. Residents can transition from independent living to assisted living, memory care or skilled nursing as their needs change, without having to relocate. This approach ensures convenience, stability, and peace of mind for both residents and their families.

LifeCare, on the other hand, is a specific type of contract available at some Life Plan Communities. It offers residents predictable monthly fees, even if they require higher levels of care in the future.

Essentially, LifeCare provides a financial safety net by ensuring that the cost of care doesn’t fluctuate significantly, which can be a considerable benefit for long-term financial planning.

While all LifeCare communities are Life Plan Communities, not all Life Plan Communities offer LifeCare contracts. It’s essential to explore the options available at each community to determine the best fit for your needs, priorities and budget.

Your entrance fee is a one-time payment based on the size of residence you choose and the number of people living there.

Monthly service fees include all services and amenities, including your meal plan, maintenance, housekeeping and laundry, utilities, transportation, concierge assistance, use of the pool and fitness center, activities and events.

LifeCare® at Sandhill Cove may complement your long-term care insurance policy. Depending on the terms, you could receive the daily benefit paid by your policy while receiving long-term care at Water’s Edge, our on-site Health Center. You could even apply this benefit toward your monthly fee. You may also be eligible to receive benefits for assisted living or skilled nursing. Check with your insurance broker to verify your specific benefits.

If you intend to rely on your long-term care policy alone, consider that such policies typically cover only a portion of health care costs for a limited number of days. They also don’t guarantee availability in any particular health care center. As a resident of Sandhill Cove, you’re assured access to Water’s Edge Health and Rehabilitation.
